Storytimes
Baby and Toddler Storytime: Ages 6 months to 36 months
This storytime is offered every Monday and Wednesday during storytime session at 10am. During this storytime, children will learn through the books, songs and rhymes that are performed. During baby and toddler storytime there will be print awareness, phonological awareness and repetition, rhythm and rhyming. All of these are important for a child's development because it helps them learn to recognize sounds, shapes, and colors. At the end of each storytime there will be about 25 minutes of playtime. This playtime is for caregivers and the children to meet new people and make friends. Toys and books provided will be ones that babies and toddlers can learn and grow from.
Just for 2's and 3's Storytime: Ages 2 to 3 years old
Toddler storytime is offered every Monday and Wednesday at 11am, just after the Baby storytime. During the Just for 2's and 3's storytime there will be print awareness, phonological awareness and repetition, rhythm and rhyming. All of these are important for a child's development because it helps them learn to recognize sounds, shapes, and colors. Being aware of sounds, shapes, colors, counting and movements are all very helpful for children because those are all things they would be doing once they start school. At the end of each storytime there will be about 25 minutes of playtime. This playtime is for caregivers and the children to meet new people and make friends. Toys and books provided will be ones that toddlers can learn and grow from.
School Readiness Storytime: Ages 3 to 5 years old
School Readiness Storytime is offered every Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm during the storytime sessions. This storytime is design to develop early literacy, listening and group participation skills required for successful school entry. At the end of each storytime there will be a small craft that children can do that will somehow relate to the theme of that day's storytime.
Family Storytime: All ages
Family Storytime is offered every Wednesday at 7pm during the storytime sessions. Children are welcomed to attend in their pajamas. This storytime is for children and their families to come and learn in a fun and exciting way. Along with the usual picture books that is read there will also be a non-fiction book that ties into the theme of that night, followed by a craft for the children at the end.
Note: All storytimes last about 25 minutes followed by either playtime or a craft depending on the age.
